Make jewelry and crowns from wildflowers!

What little girls doesn't dream of being a fairy princess?  Make her dreams come true on your next camping trip.  For boys - they can make necklaces or more masculine crowns.

There are lots of different ways to make wildflower jewelry and crown.  But most of them are variation of two basic methods - all natural materials - strictly flowers and other found material or wire crowns with wildflowers woven in.

For the all natural method:

What you need:

  • Wildflowers - daisies and clovers seem to work very well but any wildflower or combination of wildflowers with long bendable stems will work
  • Your imagination

How to:

  • Hold a flower each hand and carefully tie the end of the stem of one of the flowers to the other  - no special knots required.
  • Slip the knot up to the blossom of the flower you are tying to - then tighten so that the blossom keeps the flower from slipping.
  • Continue knotting together flowers until they are the appropriate length for a crown or necklace and then tie the ends together to wear.

Other ideas:

  • You could make wildflower garland to decorate camp or a backyard birthday party
  • You could make wildflower streamers to hang from a May Day pole
  • Twist around outdoor lights to light up your RV campsite
  • Make a wreath
  • Tie them around bowls and planters to make your campfire meal more festive

Fairy Princess Crown of Wildflowers:

What you need:

  • Sparkly wire from the craft store
  • Shimmering ribbons
  • Wildflowers - daisies and clovers seem to work very well but any wildflower or combination of wildflowers with long bendable stems will work
  • Your imagination

How to:

  • Measure your child's head and cut 3 lengths of the sparkly wire 3-4 inches longer than the head measurement
  • Braid the wire together adding ribbon
  • Attach wildflowers throughout
  • Attach streaming ribbons
  • And if you made natural wildflower chains you can attach them to dangle from the crown as well
